Last weekend, Wessex Cyclocross League returned to Chilton Manor Farm in The Candovers for Round 4. Our riders faced a difficult course with many corners, climbs and a nice long hill through the start and finish, all rounded off with a slow drag towards the Manor. But this didn’t prevent our riders from battling ‘till the end!
In the U8 Boys, Max Adams claimed his first ever cyclocross win in a tight battle to the finish. In the U10 Girls, Flo Boustred came third and Olivia Davies finished eighth. In the Boys, Wilf Barlow came eighth as well with Sunni Muriithi in sixteenth, Harrison Hough in nineteenth and Jordan Riley in twentieth. Jess Barry finished seventh in the U12 Girls. In the Boys, Archie Frogley finished seventh, closely followed by Joseph Lovegrove in eighth and Alfie Hough in ninth. Rex Davies followed behind in fifteenth.
In the U14 Girls, Elsa Varney took second place, Emily Williams followed in third and Ruby Boustred came twelfth. In the Open category, Freddie Trosh came eighth, Leeyo Muriithi in tenth, Billy Dyer in fourteenth, James Martin in fifteenth, James Sutton in sixteenth, Reuben Lewis in eighteenth and Ruben Davies in nineteenth. Alexis Barry came fourth in the U16 Girls.
In the Junior Open, Benji Pike took his first podium of the season, finishing third, with George Boustred not far behind in fifth. It was a Sotonia Top Three in the M40s race last weekend. Andi Gardiner took the win with Pete Boustred in second and James Gilfillan in third. Tom Budden finished seventh and Ian Crocker just missed out on the top ten and came eleventh. Marit Davidse finished fourth in the Junior Women’s and Emma Harrison finished fifth in the U23/Senior Women’s. Caroline Trosh came fourth in the M40 Women’s with Julie Williams in fifth. Jon Hall came fifth in the M50s and Jon Dudley came fourth in the M60s.
All in all, a good day of racing and some brilliant results for Sotonia. We’ll see you all this weekend at Milestones, Basingstoke for Round Five!!
