In the sultry heat of August, 19 Sotonians battled it out on the Longstock park roller. Once again, Issy Hall was the sole, and therefore the fastest U16 female, but she adds to her glory by being the second fastest female overall. Sarah Needle cemented her record at the top of the tree, coming in fastest again, with Jen Dawson rounding out the month’s podium. But Issy Hall, by virtue of having played her joker, now sits at the top of the female standings; can anybody displace her while she turns her attention to the cross season?
George Connell was the only, and the fastest U16 male rider. For the men, Andy Gardiner rearranged his working commitments to make a late charge to the top of the rankings, and he had clear Sotonian orange water between him and second placed Richard Johnson. Mike Marsh took 3rd place. (All three are, or have represented Sotonia Bees in Zwift racing; you too could improve your racing if you joined us….). Andy also has a handy (Andy) lead at the top of the season standings, again beating Richard into second place, with Paul Macken in third. Special mention, though to U16 George Connell, currently sitting 5th equal. And also welcome to a couple of new entrants to the competition: James Cooper (also a Sotonia Bee, by the way!) and to John Phillips.

The September segment is a different challenge altogether. Beacon Hill will take riders a little further East than usual, and uphill at 6% for 1.6 km. Time to boost that w/kg ratio.
As always, it’s not too late to join in the fun. Full details can be found here.
